About a month ago my husband got me a new T-Mobile G2 to replace our old Blackberry Pearl. The phone was free when you sign new contract with T-Mobile. Trust me, I’m far from being techy! It took me a while to play around and got myself familiar with it, but I’m loving this new phone! I love the apps that were installed, love the keyboard since I hate typing on a touch screen, love the camera, love the tethering capabilities. This way whenever my husband and I go out together, he can tether his Wi-Fi into mine and I don’t have to use my data plan.
Some of my favorite apps:
- Our Grocery. I can make a grocery list and synchronize it to my husband’s
- Calendar. Again, our calendar can be synchronize so that we can plan our activities around our schedule without having to call first
- Navigation is pretty accurate so far
- The Barcode Scanner is pretty useful. I don’t normally check on prices when shopping, that’s why that responsibility is handed over to my husband. However there were a few times when I want to check prices on a pretty expensive blender. All I need to do is scan the barcode and it searches how much that particular item is sold at other retailers, including Amazon.com
- The Craigslist apps. Everybody knows how much I love Craigslist. I visit Craigslist more often than I visit news sites. With Craigslist apps, I can put items that I’m currently searching and it automatically updates and pops up on the info bar whenever somebody sells that item on Craigslist
- Google Voice apps. I can send text messages for free using Google Voice apps. How awesome is that?
There are hundreds and hundreds of apps that I’m sure I will find it very useful. Again, being a non-techy person kind of drew me back from finding it out. Right now I’m pretty happy with just a handful of apps I already have. I’m sure when there are more useful apps, my husband would be the first one letting me know!
The only sad thing is, I miss my Blackberry Messenger buddies!!

I have this phone too, and I love it! My favorite apps are Wordfeud (online scrabble with friends) and Retro Camera (an app that takes pictures with different retro frames/lenses). I’ll have to try that grocery app…thanks for the tip!
