As I was cleaning my den last night, I found a stack of paperwork from when my purse was snatched out of my car about two years ago. My mind traveled back to the darkest day of my life when I found my car window was smashed while picking up my son from daycare. Stupid me left my purse in the car. Two years had gone by and our life couldn’t be any better. I would like to share some tips to my readers of what to do when your purse gets stolen or goes missing:
Create a Police Report
When I reported to the daycare center director that my purse was missing, she suggested to create police report. I was confused why I needed to call a police anyhow, knowing that they are not going to come anyway. The police did this report over the phone. You have to tell them the time and day you found your purse is missing, list any valuable items inside the purse, etc. A police report is very important to submit insurance claims. Aside from that, in this case my green card was stolen too and I need it to apply a replacement card.
Cancel all your credit and debit cards
Call all banks immediately and cancel your credit cards and debit card. You have no idea how fast a thief will take every second of opportunities to use your credit cards.

I learned from this experience not to throw away any receipts from gift card purchase if I have not use them. The only thing is you need to submit the receipt so they can pull your record.
Sometimes I wonder why bad things happen to good people. I guess in a way it teaches me not to be naive. As a matter of fact, bad experience teaches you to be a better person.
