Continuing our journey to NYC from my previous post, there are tons of things to do and so many places to visit with your toddler in NYC. We didn’t get to go to all the recommended places, but did enjoy some:
American Museum of Natural History
This museum is the place where “Night at the Museum” movie took place, starring Ben Stiller. The museum has tons of artifacts that kids will enjoy. My son loves seeing all these animals and dinosaurs. My favorite was the butterfly exhibition. It was a special exhibition that you had to pay extra to get in, but it was all worth it! The room was extremely hot and there were butterflies everywhere. They teach you how to hold butterfly so that you won’t hurt them. You can watch how butterflies sucked orange juices from up close. It was so much fun!
Central Park
One day is not enough to spend at Central Park. The place is huge and there are so many things kids can do. They can go to the zoo or play in the castle. In the Summer time, you can do pedal boating, watch people racing their remote control boats, or simply let your kids running around. We went there during Fall Foliage and it was absolutely breath taking.
Children Museum
We went to the Children Museum in Brooklyn. We read the reviews and supposedly the one in Brooklyn is better than the one in Manhattan. However I didn’t find it impressive at all. Perhaps it’s because we have been to the Children Museum in Indianapolis, which is actually the best one in the country. Anyway I was a bit disappointed. I didn’t go to the Children Museum in Manhattan but a friend told us it was actually better. Either way, it’s something that your kids might enjoy.
FAO Schwarz
My son had a blast at this Toys Store, particularly playing “The Big” piano. He actually spent hours running around on that piano along with other kids and making his own “music”. Keep in mind that toys sold at this store cost around 30% higher than any other toys stores.
Toys ‘R Us at Times Square
The Toys ‘R Us at Times Square is a bit different than any other Toys ‘R Us because it has a gigantic Ferris Wheel. My son did have a good time, and we don’t normally see such a huge Ferris Wheel inside a store.
There is also Children Museum of Art but I think my then three year old was too young to understand. I wished we had more time to go to the aquarium. Overall, New York is not just for adult. There are places that kids can enjoy as well.
