My husband has been hanging out with his badminton buddies who mostly are in their 20s, single and no kids. They do what a typical twenty year old would do, partying, drinking, hanging out at some bars. I’ve met them a few times and I actually really like them. We even invited them over a few times.
About a few weeks ago, we were invited to one of the girl’s birthday party. I usually sit in the house because we have kids. But since my mother-in-law is here, I took this opportunity to hang out with them. So we went to this little French Cuisine in Campus area. The place is great, the food is a little outside the box. Hey, I ate pig tail and chicken neck!! OK, maybe not chicken neck… that’s where I draw my line. But I’m glad I got to try it although not sure I would ever go back there again. Most importantly, I love the opportunity to have a nice dinner without yelling at anybody.
Everything went great until they started talking about all these really cool bars with awesome music, or hiking plan. Then I realized, I really had nothing to say. I haven’t been clubbing in years. I’m not a hiker, but bottom line is… I had nothing in common with these people. How my life is boring compare to these people.
As much as I love hanging out with these people, I’m a mother first and foremost.
I’m not trying to be somebody I am not.
I do love to spend as much time as I can with my kids, because before I know it, they’ll be gone.
Call me boring… but for some reason I don’t see anything wrong with that! :)
