I have been participating in consignment sales at Three Bags Full for a few years now and Spring is usually my favorite time to consign, simply because I got rid of all these bulky outdoorsy toys. And that was exactly what I did this past consignment sales. I was very excited about this sale because not only I got rid of all these outdoor baby toys such as buggy ride, wagon, Little Tikes car that my son has outgrown of, Three Bags Full has moved its Delaware location to somewhat closer to my house.

In the past, I normally consigned and/or volunteered, but never shopped. The way consignment sale works is there are drop of times, shop times, shop the red dot times, pick up the unsold items times, and volunteer times if you choose to do so. If you choose to volunteer, your consignment fee is waived and depending on the number of shifts, you can get higher commission. I typically only do drop off and volunteer, and depending on the time slot, you might be able to do both within the same day and avoid going back and forth. If I want to shop, I typically have to go back on another trip to shop. Now that the place is a lot closer from my house, I had no problem going back to the sale to shop. So this time I was lucky enough to be able to drop off my consignment items right before my volunteer shift. On the next day, I came back with my oldest son to shop.
After years of consigning, here are some valuable tips I would like to share:
- Considering you price your item right (check this suggested price ), at least 50% of your clothing will be sold at discount
- Stuff animals and plush toys do not sell
- If you really want to make money, always add high ticketed price. High ticketed prices are included but not limited to baby gear (stroller, pack and play, exercauser, high chair, etc), wagon, Little Tikes car, sand box/table, water table, slide/playset, playhouse, storage furniture, etc. My high ticketed items for this Spring sale was wagon, buggy ride, Little Tikes car, hexagon gate, Sit ‘n Spin, and Discovery Play Cube. All sold at full price within the first night.
As the kids grew older, I imagine I wouldn’t have that many big ticketed items. So will I be participating on the next Fall Consignment Sale? We’ll just have to wait and see. Here’s my result:

I’m not excited but I’m not upset either. It’s just OK. I don’t know how long I’m going to be participating at Consignment Sales. I started to get tired of it, especially since I have to store it for months before I could sell it. For now, I’m happy that I was able to raise money for my next business venture, which I will share soon.
