Breastfeeding Fiasco

I’m trying so hard not to post this topic about breastfeeding since I don’t want to turn it into a major controversy.  However, I feel like every month I read some news about a group of moms doing nursing strike at some retail store after a nursing mom was told to cover herself up.  Or someone nursing her baby during graduation ceremony.  Now the most recent one was a mom who ranted all over the social media after the school banned her from nursing her baby in the school property.

Now, I breastfed both kids for one full year on each of them.  You cannot tell me I don’t support breastfeeding.  However, people never knew or pay attention when I breastfed my kids because I always cover myself up.  I had a handmade poncho handed down by a good friend of mine when I had my first child.  Then on my second one, my other friend handed down her cute nursing cover up.  You might see a tiny feet or tiny hand sticking out, but for the most part, I’m not exposing my boobs to the world.  I’ve never been kicked out of the mall or restaurant from feeding my child.

These days, there are all kinds of nursing cover ups that you can get at reasonable price.  My favorite is an Infinity Breastfeeding Scarf that has a double duty as nursing cover like this one:

Bottom line is, be considerate to others!  Boobs is boobs, whether you’re exposing your nipple or not.  Exposing your breast for the public to see is not OK.  Yes you have every right to feed your baby, but the world doesn’t revolve around you and your baby.  There are ways to discreetly feed your baby without making other people feeling uncomfortable.
