Scrapbooking, Yay or Nay?

May 24th, 2011

I used to do scrapbooking a long time ago before I had my son.  I decided to quit just because I found it so time consuming, creating clutter all over the place, and not mentioning it’s not a cheap hobby when you add all the little embellishments, tools, card stock, pages, and everything else you need to create an album.  However, this time I decided to create a scrapbook for our Disney trip because I already had the perfect album for it.  For the past four years, I normally upload a bunch of pictures of our trips and post it on my personal blog that’s only accessible to my family and close friends.  However, due to the number of photos we took using a point and shoot camera (hence higher resolution) in which requires a bunch of resizing to meet the web requirement, I decided not to post our trip on our blog.  This time, the trip was so special and I want to create something that is more memorable and personal.

I was actually considering in creating a digital scrapbook using a free software from Creative Memory.  You can download  a pre-designed pages in Disney theme for $8.95 and just upload your photos.  However printing a 12 x 12 photo book is going to costs me $79.95, so I thought it would be cheaper to do a traditional scrapbook.  Plus I figured if I only buy the Scrapbook kits (pages that come with all the embellishments), I don’t have to spend too much money buying all the tools I need to decorate the pages.  Yes my creativity will be very much limited, but I save time and money by doing so.

Needless to say, the project has been going on for two weeks because I only have time to do this in the weekend.  Something reminds me why I quit scrapbooking a long time ago:

I have to say though, that scrapbooking is very therapeutic for me.  Could this be my new hobby besides blogging?  Let’s see how this project goes and we’ll go from there, shall we?
