This post was long overdue, but my boy turned 7 back in February and I threw a Star Wars Lego party. This one I struggled a little bit because it was pretty hard trying to find a combination of Star Wars and Lego. Usually it’s one or the other. I finally found the perfect printable from Etsy, but the size and cutout wasn’t right. After complaining to the seller, I ended up getting it for free. And that wasn’t the only challenge I had. Decorating a birthday party where everything is black was pretty hard for me, since I love things that are cute and pretty. But hey…anything for the birthday boy, right?
So, the party this time is a little different. Not only I had one birthday party at the comfort of my own home, I actually had two. One was with close friends and family and the other was with a few of his classmates. That was a pretty major change at least for me. I’m glad I did it this way because it was sooo less stressful! I didn’t have to carry out all the food and decoration stuffs to the party venue, I can do prepping anytime I want. It was very very convenient. I only invited a few people because we don’t have a big house, and since this is the very first birthday party I had at home (in Winter!!), I wasn’t sure how it turned out. It actually turned out wonderful! The majority of our friends’ kids are within the age of 7 – 10 years old, and they were busy playing video games in the basement. We told them if they started fighting who gets what first, the video game is off. So they were taking turns nicely while the adults were chit chatting upstairs.

- I’m so proud of this! These jars are actually from apple juice. I poured out the apple juice and replaced it with orange juice. Then I drew the Lego man face. Creative, right?

Bottom line is, everybody had a good time, the birthday boy had a blast, and most importantly, mommy wasn’t stressing out. The icing on the cake for my son was two days later, we had another birthday party/playdate with his best friends from school. I only invited three of his friends since I can’t have 9 boys running around in this small house. It also turned out wonderfully. The parents just dropped of the boys. They were playing hard for a couple hours until they were picked up. No need to entertain the parents and cooked a massive meal. This was probably the least stressful and least expensive birthday party I’ve ever thrown.
Next… birthday party for my soon to be three year old. Hmmm…. I’m debating between Thomas or Lighting McQueen.
