It has been my tradition to create New Year’s wishlist and resolution for 2014 and also look back the things that I haven’t accomplished in 2013. This year has been yet another challenging year for me in so many ways; trying to hold the ship while raising a family, re-building my blog, and facing all kinds of turmoils that has been happening in our lives. Regardless what we’ve been through, I still try my best to count my blessings and appreciate all the things that I’ve accomplished this year.
2013 Mission Accomplished:
-
Still the wish list from the past 4-5 years now I assume? Kitchen remodeling, replace flooring with hardwood,
upgradingand monetizing my blog.
I probably need to update the Kitchen Remodeling as a long term wishlist. On a brighter side, we did ask a contractor to design our kitchen and give us an estimate. What we didn’t realize is how much it cost to install hardwood floors for our entire main floor. So I think the flooring should be our priority at this point because it’s the one that shows wear and tear the most. I did hire someone from Elance to upgrade my blog and install Genesis Framework with full SEO. Monetizing my blog is still a work in progress due to recent change in Google Adsense program that makes it harder to generate income just from Adsense. -
Continue to decluttering my house, but this one have to involve my husband. That guy has more clothes than any of us combined. I don’t know when he can get rid of his stuffs, or if he ever will! He still needs to go through boxes of computer and electronic stuffs from the office renovation.
I sold most of his DVDs, put his clothes in a trash bag (which he still needs to go through and approve the ones that need to be donated). So I would say mission is half accomplished! -
Organize my garage - Attend blog conference
-
Be an avid runner. Over the past Spring, Summer and Fall, I managed to run a minimum of 3 miles each time. I don’t have enough confident to start half marathon yet. Maybe I should put this in my wishlist. :-) - Live a healthier lifestyle and eventually drop a few lbs
- Spend more quality time with my husband and learn to communicate better
- Learn to let go the past. This one is so damn hard!!
- Get a new job
-
Mastering in kids consignment sales
2013 Blessings:
- Got to travel to NYC with my girlfriends
- Being able to manage my schedule to accommodate work life balance. Having my neighbor’s kids watching my 1st grader so that I don’t have to put him in Latchkey and spent half hour in the traffic is a huge help. Being able to work from 7:30 – 4:30 is also a big help. This way, I get home by 5 pm, pick up my son at the neighbor’s house (or sometimes in my backyard depending on the weather) and skip the traffic, and let me have 1 hour to cook homemade meal for my family is a big blessing for all of us. Nothing beats getting appreciation from my family for cooking delicious meals
- I’ve doubled up my blog stat from 700 visitors/month about two years ago (during my active years) to over 1400 visitors with 1200 unique visitors a month. That’s a huge accomplishment!
- I think I’ve cut down my addiction to Reality TV. I no longer watch Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, or New York City. The only Real Housewives series I watch is The Real Housewives of Atlanta. The rest Reality TV I watch is Long Island Medium, Courtney Loves Dallas (because she’s a blogger) and HGTV’s Love it or List it. Pretty impressive, right?
- My two beautiful boys who continue to be my rock! It’s funny how little and vulnerable our kids can be, but at the same time, they are the one who keep me going every day
- Attending New Kids on the Block concert with my girlfriend! That was the highlight of my time. Now I just revealed to my readers how old I am… :)
2014 Wishlist and Resolution:
- Replace the main floor with hardwood floors and upstairs with carpet
- Attending Blog Conference
- Living a healthy lifestyle
- Learn SQL
- Get a new job
- Monetize my blog through online selling (stay tune…details to follow in the upcoming posts)
- Training for half marathon
- Living a healthy lifestyle
- Have a happy, loving and healthy family
- Go to another girls trip
2013 has been filled with ups and down for me personally. I’m grateful with the ups and have learned from the down. I’m just hoping that 2014 will be as memorable and full of blessing for me and my family. Have a wonderful and happy New Year, everyone!!
These are some great goals! Good luck! I need to start running and was thinking of setting a goal for the year of 300 miles. I’ve already done three, so I’m making progress! I’m not sure I’d run a half marathon though. Decluttering is definitely on the top of my list for this year too!
Thanks! Good luck achieving your goal too! I’m a little nervous about half marathon since I’m afraid I would be the last one. Last Summer I started running early in the morning because afternoon running was too hot. It was dark and scary, the entire time I thought someone was going to kidnap me. I still run at 12-13 minute per mile. :)
