2013 Wish List and Resolution

April 17th, 2013

Yes I know we are in Mid-April.  But life has been unbelievably busy for the past 2 year that I haven’t had time to blog.  Between raising my crazy family, working on house projects, working full time, I barely have time to even breath.  Even though we’re a quarter away from 2013 New Year, I still think it’s not too late to have a wish list.  After all, I would’ve hated to skip this ritual and welcoming 2014 not knowing what I have accomplished and what not.

So as always, I would like to review what I wished in the opening of 2012 based on this post .

  1. Unresolved 2011 Wishlist and Resolution #3, 7 and 8 or basically kitchen and flooring remodeling, upgrading my WordPress and monetizing my blog. Unchecked. *Sighhh…. of course none of those happened last year, although we were so close of hiring a contractor last year.  I guess it wasn’t meant to be.  In regards to upgrading my WordPress, I think I’ll just hire somebody to tweak my blog.  My wordpress is so old I can’t even post with pictures using my phone anymore
  2. Watch less TV and blog more.  Over the past few months I have been so busy with work and my baby who’s still waking up in the middle of the night.  By the time the kids go to bed, I’m just totally exhausted and can’t even think.  I’m hoping next year would be much better. Unchecked .  On a side note, I remember it took me 2 years after I had my first one to get back on blogging again.  So hopefully the history will repeat itself
  3. My baby can sleep through the night.  Baby… I love you so much, but will you please stop waking up at 3 a.m for feeding so Mommy can function better? He did sleep through the night although he still wakes up every midnight.  Based on the pediatric’s suggestion at his 18 mo checkup, I just have to ignore it…. and that’s what I did!
  4. Learn SQL. Unchecked
  5. I would like to move to a different group within my department.  About a month ago, I told my boss and my boss’ boss that I would like to do something different and moving to a different group might be the way to go.  I’m not looking for a promotion, although I won’t refuse it.  But I just get bored doing what I’m doing right now and need to learn something new. Unchecked .  I did interviews last year for a different jobs within the department, but it wasn’t meant to be.  Hey at least I tried, right?  and I will keep trying
  6. Decluttering and downsizing by selling my dog business stuffs and hubby’s DVD collection Actually this is half way done but I’m still pretty happy.  I sold almost all my doggy stuffs, and the only things I have left are 3 dog carriers.  I still haven’t sold my hubby’s DVD collection :(
  7. Organize my office, perhaps getting rid of the ginormous bookshelves, installing shelving unit in the closet and buy a nice futon or small sofa bed for a guest .  I’m cheating a little bit, this one was actually completed earlier this year (see this post).  It was a big project and I’m still happy with the result!
  8. Travel to California to visit Cars Land at Disneyland Adventure Park that will be opened next year
  9. Hire a landscaper to make over my front and backyard.  No need major makeover, just a simple trimming, Spring cleanup, and removing unwanted plants
  10. Sell our rental property
4 out of 10… perhaps not a good year or perhaps I was too ambitious?
The highlight of 2012:
  • My son is a Kindergartener!  It’s amazing how much he learned in school.  I just got his journal drawing since the beginning of the year and it shows how much he improved.  Even though he gets in trouble a lo, but he really loves school
  • I scored big on seasonal kids consignment sales.  I sold all the baby stuffs in the Spring of last year and actually made money on some of those stuffs.  I bought stuffs really cheap from garage sales and sold them in higher price
The only downside of 2012 is probably the busy life with 2 kids has put my relationship with my hubby in the backseat.  Now it’s my goal to put our relationship in the driver seat again.
Anyway, my 2013 wish list:
  1. Still the wish list from the past 4-5 years now I assume?  Kitchen remodeling, replace flooring with hardwood, upgrading and monetizing my blog
  2. Continue to decluttering my house, but this one have to involve my husband.  That guy has more clothes than any of us combined.  I don’t know when he can get rid of his stuffs, or if he ever will!  He still needs to go through boxes of computer and electronic stuffs from the office reno
  3. Organize my garage
  4. Attend blog conference
  5. Be and avid runner
  6. Live a healthier lifestyle and eventually drop a few lbs
  7. Spend more quality time with my husband and learn to communicate better
  8. Learn to let go the past.  This one is so damn hard!!
  9. Get a new job
  10. Mastering in kids consignment sales
I have to be honest that 2012 has not been easy for me.  I’m positive that I can go through 2013 and be a better person.
