This past Sunday I decided to spend one on one quality time with my oldest son. I feel like ever since his brother was born, I didn’t get much chance to spend time with him. It’s almost like our time was devided between him with his dad, and me with my youngest. On top of that I just realized that my oldest son, who used to be the sweetest child, started getting into trouble ever since his brother was norn.
I never realized how much he loved the idea. When I told him we would go out just me and him for “mommy and “V” special day” without his brother, his face lit up. I said, “You pick where you want to go or what you want to do. I promise I won’t make a quick stop and do boring grown up stuffs”. He said he wanted go to the zoo and that his brother can have special day with daddy.
A few days before we were supposed to go, he kept asking how many days left until the “special day”. Then it was supposed to rain all day that day. I prayed and prayed so that it won’t rain. I don’t want to disappoint that little face. Thank God it wasn’t raining at all. That morning, he jumped on our bed and whispered on my ear while I was still asleep, “Mommy, I don’t hear any rain”.
Sure enough we had fun at the zoo, and ate his favorite food afterwards. I guess it’s pretty important to have one on one special day with individual child, especially since my boys are 4 years apart. That way, they know each of them are very special in their own unique way.
